Save Bonaire - 2026
Motion
Adobe After Effects
Save Bonaire is a mixed media animation inspired by the island that has shaped my life since childhood. My Nonna immigrated to Bonaire over twenty years ago, and after visiting almost every year growing up, I developed a deep appreciation for its vibrant landscapes, marine life, and close-knit community. As my first exploration into mixed media animation, the project combines collage, illustration, typography, and motion to celebrate the island's beauty while telling a deeply personal story.
Beyond celebrating Bonaire, the project raises awareness of the environmental challenges threatening its future. Rising ocean temperatures, coral bleaching, sea level rise, pollution, coastal erosion, and overdevelopment continue to endanger one of the Caribbean's most diverse marine ecosystems. Through an emotionally driven visual narrative, the animation encourages viewers to reflect on the importance of protecting places whose stories are often overlooked.
Created entirely in Adobe After Effects, Save Bonaire demonstrates how motion design can be used not only as a creative medium, but also as a tool for advocacy, transforming personal experiences into visual stories that inspire empathy, awareness, and action.
